AM2R stands for Another Metroid 2 Remake and its main goal is to reflect the true nature of this wondrous and quiet game. In its very essence, this is just another remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus.
The original game was released for Game Boy in 1991. Back then, the game’s main appeal was its rather radical graphics. However, even with such low-profile visuals, the game’s graphics were ahead of their time, only preceded by Metroid: Zero Mission and Super Metroid on Super Nintendo.
Metroid: Zero Mission was also remade for the Game Boy Advance edition and was a tribute to the very first game designed for NES. The game brings back the good ol’ Samus Aran once again. You are bound for the planet SR388, where the Metroids have evolved beyond recognition and are conspiring against you.
Aside from facing these newly evolved Metroids, you can also choose a different course where you can travel deeper into the planet and encounter many challenges as you make your way through its uncharted territories.
To make things even more interesting, you’ll have nothing but an automatically-generated map on you that gets upgraded as you make your advance. Your mission is to explore the land, locate improvements and upgrades for your equipment, overcome challenges, and conquer the Metroids.
